Blossom & Prosperity

繁花似锦

The design of this mural is inspired by the iconic landmark of DC's Chinatown - the Friendship Archway and the location of this mural-the West Chinese Garden. I chose different flowers to represent the many Asian people who live in the Chinatown community. These flowers are widely distributed in different parts of Asia, and they bloom in spring and summer. Peony represents prosperity and wealth in traditional Chinese culture, as the main visual element, surrounded by cherry blossoms that represent DC, magnolias represent the beautiful meaning of Spring. The lily and lotus both symbolizes purity. Blooming flowers are not only the protagonist of holiday celebrations, but also bring good fortune and expectations to Chinatown.
